  • Hi, I'm going to be getting one of these aftermarket coolers because my stock fan has died on my 6870. I'll probably follow this video for tips and whatnot. Do the separate little heat sinks stick to the VRMs with normal thermal paste or is there something extra you need to stick them on?

Any extra tips you can give me would be great! Thanks, also great video :)

  • @Xenogenocide Sorry, not the VRMs I mean the memory chips

  • @Xenogenocide and memory heat sinks have paste on them too.

  • @Xenogenocide heat sinks included have paste on them. I used sawed one from orginal vr heatsink.

  • a reference design 6870 just goes up to 71° C at full load? no way man. My xfx 6870 Black Edition dual fan heatens up to 93° C in furmark.

You must have been testing in the snow :)

    cheers

  • @TheBassgasm I tested it in finland about 20c room. =)

  • nice vid mate thanks!

  • Great video bro. Very well done

  • I'm facing a problem with the accelero xtreme plus II and the 6870. the 3mm spacers are too long and the heatsink does not contact the GPU chip. anyone else has this problem?

  • @snowsoul83 that's impressive! i think you can be proud of it ;) must be a golden sample or something like that ^^

  • Also, did you need to buy the VR001 for the extra heatsinks?

  • Thanks for this video. This seals the deal and I will be purchasing one of these to replace my stock cooler on my XFX 6870. The thing sounds like a vaccuum in my case and is the loudest fan. The twin turbo is so quiet!
