  • did you keep sea sponge in there too? hey have anyone ever kept live sea bath sponge (The natural bath sponge we use in baths) in their aquariums?

  • Yes, there's several sponges growing in there.

Most of them are small encrusting type sponges that grow on the underside of the live rock.

The only trouble with sponges is that when they are exposed to the air they start to die off.

Sometimes they recover, sometimes they don't.

It's best to bag and unbag them under water if you are buying them or collecting them.

If they have to be taken out of the water, keep them out for the shortest amount of time possible.

  • what type of lights do you have?

  • URI brand 72" 160w VHO bulbs. 480w total.

    2 - 10,000k daylight bulbs and 1 - Super Actinic.

The URI brand have internal reflectors that increase the amount of light going into the tank.

In most cases the type of reflector is more important than the bulb type.

  • Sorry, I missed the notification of your comment.

The tank has been running in my home for about 3 years.

It was running for a little over a year when I purchased it from the original owner.
