Like Callas and Sutherland, Anderson sings her coloratura with the voice going effortlessly from note to note, without any of the disjointed, aspirating, H-dropping, machine-gun coloratura style of Bartoli and her kin. I really don't think we have any singers with a coloratura technique of this caliber now. The only thing she lacked was a real and dependable trill.

I love her voice and acting skills!!!

Absolutely wonderful. A brilliant performance of this aria. June Anderson is the worthy successor of the great Joan Sutherland.

@JeeRant Uh, it's part of the musical statement, that's why.
-
we have a few, but not very many
- June Anderson (although she's done a 180 and is now singing dramatic soprano lol)
- Samuel Ramey (in his 60s and still in top shape)
- Jennifer Larmore

a lesson in amazing singing. totally undervalued by singers today. we coudl all take a leaf from her book

@Shahrdad Sutherland was to me the best coloratura soprano in history.

Meravigliosa, per certe cose la signora Anderson è stata unica superando tutte le altre. Eccezionale!! Bravissima!

She is perfect!

WHY must conductors force us to sit through that ridiculously long orchestral introduction? Just cut it, for God's sake.

@lucca54 I would say June gives a really good example with this aria. Joan Sutherland is probably my favorite coloratura soprano, so I would recommend Bel Raggio Lushingier by her as well. If you listen to Joan and June singing the aria, and the Bartoli, you will hear the difference. Joan and June sings it a lot smoother.

@operamagnus Thank you and can you give me an example of someone that can sing coloratura with legato so that I can compare and hear exactly what you mean? Thank you for your help.
Thanks so much for this - I've got the audio recording of the concert, but have never seen the video! Was this recorded from French television?
