Continued playing around with how to tackle a one swipe app switching mechanism, and here is another take.

Similar to the first experimental concept, you swipe (from the left edge) to split the screen and reveal the app icons. Continuing to slide your thumb/finder without releasing, you hover over the app you want to jump to, and release.
