In September 1989, TWC was still rather unknown, but that changed when Hurricane Hugo made landfall in South Carolina and OCMs Cindy Preszler and Dennis Smith were dispatched to give live coverage of Hurricane Hugo, however Dennis recalls being in the storm without being in immediate danger and without being in the worst part of the storm.

  • Yes, at the time was living about 2 hours east of charleston and experienced cat 3 winds. On the down side I did not enjoy not having power for week but on the up side grilled out every day .

  • Hugo blew over our big oak tree that I never thought could be blown over. Blew my friend's oak over also! Power was out for 4 nights. We used an old draw well with a winch to wash with.
