Franz Hoffmann sings this song, which hasn't come on YT since today. I have two versions: the other one is sung by Fritz Imhoff on Polydor (unfortunately very bad condition). Maybe I will upload it one day.

Furthermore, I have three questions about this title and would greatly appreciate your answers:
- Are there any informations about Franz Hoffmann? His dialect is definitely Viennese, however, I could not find any information about him on YT or in the www.
- The orchestra - could it be Otto Dobrindt? I have no idea about that.
- And last, but not least: what is the sense of "Madelaine's clock in Paris"? Is there a relation to the church "La Madeleine (sic!)" in Paris?

In Paris bei der Uhr der Madelaine
Walzerlied (M. Lindemann)
Text: Brammer - Grünwald
Franz Hoffmann
mit Orchester
Odeon A 45566, mx. Be 7310
Wien (?), ca. 1928 (?)

Original 78rpm sound without any sound editings - played on a Dual 1209 turntable.

  • Also:

    Aber Johann - Odeon A 186165

I hab an alten Daimler (Parodie auf das Wiener Fiakerlied) Odeon A 186165

But I cannot find this one - yet! What is on the B side?

  • Thanks very much Jon for this great work! Seems as Hoffmann wasn't active for a very long time - all songs are between 1930 and 1932. However, this recording is, according to the matrix number, older. Do you know the matrix numbers of your listed recordings? On the B side, there is "Ich will Dein Glück und sonst nichts mehr". However - if we cannot find any information, I will check the discography in the national library. ;) Thank you for your kind help!

    Greetings from Austria.

  • Danke!
