Innovative homemade wooden driveway snow plow, homemade of wooden 2x4's. Attaches using the rear trailer hitch! Demonstrated using my Jeep Patriot North Edition, in Canada.
It attaches in about 1 minute, front attaches using diagonal quick connect tie down straps which also keep it from shifting side to side too far.
Rob vanNostrand
PS: The current design DOES have additional layers of the 2x4's and plywood to give it extra height. I am thinking about an automatic mechanical lifter so that when I back up it will raise the blade a few inches to prevent the snow from getting tangled up in the vee.

  • Nice!! Got linked via a Norwegian newspaper called Dagbladet.no :-D

  • @Elvellonno Thank you for letting me know about the newspaper link! Pretty cool to see my invention there.

  • I get a kick out of all the negative comments... you took a concept and made it work! It is a little bit shallow for doing the whole plow job in 1 run, but it doesn't matter - go twice! Maybe you make it a little taller - easy!?? Maybe people don't notice tha fact it is v-ing the snow aside because they are wanting somewhere to dump negativity. Good job - Anyone can drive into a shop and have someone else install a WAY overpriced plow - you created something that does the job for cheap.

  • Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. Frankly I get quite a chuckle out of the negative ones, because I laugh all the way to the bank because my rig really works for me and cost less than $50 instead of $1000+

  • The current version is quite a bit BIGGER than the one shown in this prototype video, which was mainly a test of the hitch concept. I have also added an automatic hoist for when I backup. I'll post a few photos on a follow-up video soon.

  • neat idea, but i got a toro s-200 in perfect running condition for $10

  • Actually looked into those mini-snowblowers before I built my plow. But now I watch my neighbors get all dressed up in warm clothes, to fight the howling winds for 30 minutes, while I jump in my warm jeep and am back in the house in 4 minutes. (SMILE)

  • you should put some 5/8 or 3/4 ply on the front about 6" higher i think it would help
