@youvebeenthunderstru Who hates Cavett? I've never heard that before. I've only ever heard good things about him.

@youvebeenthunderstru Nobody hates him. Nobody who matters.

Brilliant + Super Funny = Dick Cavett
-
He's amazing, even this isnt improv ... he's got an aura
-
it is not that people in those days never got him.
It's just that most people under forty are used to audiences who will clap at anything, witless humour and onehundred km an hour conversations in which -
"it;s the economy, stupid"
is now the funniest joke you will hear on tv
and news stations which are shouty
-
Are there any videos of Cavett's Apollo 13-themed monologue from April 13, 1970, the night of the 'problem'? I saw a clip of it in the Ron Howard film and was wondering if the whole thing is out there somewhere.

Hey, it's Anderson Cooper from CNN!!!
Seriously though, don't they ever sound alike
-
Just as many people love him I'm sure.
-
But he was making fun of people. Were you you even listening to this?
Why does everybody hate Cavett? I think he's awesome and amazing.

For impromptu responses, I'd say that Cavett was extremely witty. Does anyone know with certainty that they were not pre-rehearsed?
