On July 22nd in Columbus, OH, America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), an insurance industry front group, launched a campaign to convince America that we're happy with our private insurance.

Kim, an organizer from SEIU and a Health Care for America Now supporter, stood up to Karen Ignagni, AHIP's CEO, with some tough questions.

We are here to fact check Karen's response.

  • Hey Karen Ignagni, we're going to sue your insurance buddies because their 50,000 PAID TROLLS lied and committed BAD FAITH.

That's illegal. You should have your damn state license revoked. We will vote the insurance commissioners out of office who sit back and do nothing.

BAD FAITH = we get to sue your gnarly ass, bitch.

Fuck you, Karen Ignagni, you evil scum sucking shit.

  • The idea of exposing AHIP's false claims of wanting reform is MANDATORY. I do wish someone would send this to a great sound engineer to clean up the sound. It is very difficult to hear Karen -- I'm sure what she is saying is not really truthful, but exposing the real purpose of AHIP is imperative to reform. Please, can someone send this to a recording engineer friend and have him/her scrub this sound?

  • The audio is a bit rough, but it sounds to me like Karen is saying 'we can have profits, or we can have health care, but not both' then just blah blah blah.

Thanks for the post. I agree with apperkins that the screen text distracts from the audio.

  • A suggestion: since you believe this audio is damning evidence of AHIP's irresponsible attitude against patients, it would be better to simply transmit what Karen's response is so we can read and follow along and then put up your arguments afterward.
