In this video, we pick up where we left off, and actually color correct the image using the eyedroppers in curves.

  • I'm new to Photoshop and after spending about 10 hours reviewing tutorials, your example is so easy to understand. Helped pull all the other ideas together and make sense. Could you make a video showing how to change color tone when adding a 2nd image that does not match?

  • What exactly are you trying to do? You want to match the color correction from one image to another? It's easier to just color correct them individually...

  • Nice video man.

There is actually a way to find out where the lightest darkest and midtones of the image are, rather than guessing.

I love how this is a high quality video though!

What do you use to record the screen with and what mic are you using?

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the comment :)

Yep, I know how to find the 2 endpoints using curves (that's actually a great tip I could post...), but you don't always want the absolute values, you want the lightest and darkest *important* parts of the image.

I record using Screenflow and use a Logitech headset for the mic.

  • Why wouldnt you want the absolute values?

Not being smart, but I just like the technical info on things.

    :)

And dam, I use a pc!

  • Well for example, say the lightest area on the image is the reflection of a flash. It's called a specular highlight, and is in no way important to the image. The lightest *important* point may be the white of someone's shirt, or snow on the ground, etc.

In the same way, if you have the option of choosing a randomly dark shadow because curves says it's the darkest point, or the subject's black shirt or black hair, you should choose one of the shirt or hair, because they're more important, see?

  • It doesn't matter that I'm on a Mac, other than that PCs can't use Screenflow. But that's just the recording software. Any good PC-based screen recording software should be able to export their movie to HD format as well.

Sometimes Youtube doesn't even accept my files as HD the first time - Once in awhile I need to reupload more than once, even if I know I've used the correct settings.

Thanks for the question, and for the sub!
