As far as monster creation goes CGI don't alway's look that good.but if you can sculpt, and paint good, you could make a movie, for alot less money,CGI look's really good, but sometimes it look's like total crap,so then I wonder if it's really even necessary. And yes I dare any Dragon done by CGI to top the Dragonslayer Dragon, they can't.

Movie Magic.I use love watching this show as a kid.I learnt a lot about FX film making.Watching a master like Tippet work makes me sigh with the sad knowledge that this technique is no longer used in film making.CGI is an evil I've come to accept over the years. If it wasn't for CGI a lot of the superhero films would not be possible.
I can accept it for that reason.

This guy is a bad-ass artist. Much respect!!

It's not necessary to diss CGI to admire the tremendous talent, patience and craft displayed by old-school VFX wizards like Tippett and others like Stan Winston, Rick Baker, Ken Ralston, John Dykstra, etc. The smarter guys like Dykstra, Tippett and Winston adapted to the new wave and managed to keep working after the advent of CG.

CGI Sucks!

The genius and experience, knowledge of materials to hand build the creatures and objects and surface them to such a degree, before you even get into animation, or lighting, etc...that's what fascinates me. Skillsets amundo.
