@pammitty The Christian right wing seems to think that the bible should be taken literally, except for the parts Jesus said. They're heavily into wrath and vengeance and never ever mention the Sermon on the Mount.

This is true and terrible. I feel living in Kansas may be a curse. It's 3/4 republicans here. This used to be a democrat state before the Christian right wing got entrenched. The right wing Christians are authoritarians and dominionists and are an easy sell here. I'm part of the Christian left and if been subjected to blasts from the right wing-nuts. THey actually believe you can't be a Christian and a democrat. But Democratic thought and action is much much closer to what Jesus taught.
