Very impressive!

I can't help thinking that there might be a simpler way of going about it, for instance using a small magnet inside the pole with a rotating magnet underneath, thereby removing the need for the gear assembly.

@Hewpie The problem is that wall-mounted barber poles don't have any space above or below to place a motorized magnet.

Amazing job! You've inspired me to do the same on my HO layout....maybe it'll bring more customers in my barber shop there....times are tough these days and we need every dollar we can get (even if it's in HO scale)!
