Here is Dumbledore's speech at the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I've mocked up what Richard Harris's version may have been like if he was alive, and I've added Michael Gambon's Dumbledore's thought process during the speech.

  • dude this is touching!! :) how did u get richard harris voice??

  • @13LuciusArchangel that's my voice, doing an impression. Thanks, bud :)

  • I definitely think Harris would have done a much better Dumbledore, had he lived (god, I sound so insensitive), but this particular clip wasn't so good; the tone in his voice sounded like bad acting to me, a little too unemotional.

  • @Skywalker91 well, I'm not really an actor, lol. I was focusing on the impression. I suppose I should have worked on the actual performance.

  • Listening to this speach in Richard Harri's voice brought tears to my eyes, thanks for making this video and May your soul be with God Sir Richard Harris you were the best Dumbledore end of story.

  • @joeymerlino1967 HAHAHA, I wish we could replace Gambon with Harris.. Maybe with CGI and a professional voice actor

  • @MrQueenie I don't get "powerful" from Gambon, I just get "grumpy." Harris's calm and soft nature in contrast to the powerful magic he can do would make him seem VERY powerful. It's like Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid, he's old, quiet, gentle, smiles, laughs, ect. But he leaped over a fence and beat the sh** out of 5 guys at once, and karate chopped off the tops of several beer bottles. That contrast is what made Miyagi seem powerful. If he'd been a grumpy old man, it wouldn't have worked that way.

  • To me, Richard Harris is the PERFECT Dumbledore. He came across as wise, mysterious, and caring/compassionate. Gambon came across as angry, bitter, and it seemed like he could care less about Harry and the other students of Hogwarts. Harris is how I always pictured Dumbledore in the books. Maybe he was too old to do some fight scenes, but they could have used stunt doubles in place of him. It's a shame he died before he could go on to be in the other six Potter films. R.I.P. Richard Harris.

  • Firstly I want say both, Sir Richard and sir Michael, are good actors!! but Richard was exactly how Dumbledore lived in my mind! He was just the perfect Dumbledore!! Michael was good on a other way..in the books they say that Dumbledore is exentric, well I think Michale Gambon play that part very good that Dumbledore has to be exentric. But Richard Harris was the perfect Dumbledore forever. R.I.P Richard Harris. I think Michale Gambon was maybe a good Aberforth also..

  • Ok I have to post another comment because this brought tears to my eyes haha this is so fantastic!
