Watch a 2 hour flight of balloons in 3 minutes. The Winthrop balloon festival occurs in the first weekend of March every year. The balloons light up the night sky in the night glow, then take off for a multi-mile tour of the valley. I filmed the footage with my telescope lens, a Questar 700mm, and my Canon 5d2. I followed the balloons through the valley along the road leading from Winthrop to Twisp.
There were 8 to 10 balloons that participated this year. The weather could not have been better ... cold and sunny. I encourage you to see the event yourself. It's not overrun with tourists and Winthrop and Twisp are neat little towns. Enjoy.
Ben, this is a beautiful clip - I am impressed with how great your cinematography skills have gotten. Have you shown this to the balloon fest? Would be great publicity for them.
