@evanspipes my ears just pricked up.....really, wow! Could you put up a video of the pipes and a short history about the makers in Scotland, England and Ireland. Did you know that McDonald of London in the 1830s had a shuttle set with union chanter? The scots and Northumbrian trads should re-introduce the union pipes as its part of our heritage too and no doubt the smallpipes would have been played in Ireland.

Interesting you say the Union pipes that became the Uillean pipes of today were improved by Northumbrian and Tyne side makers too. Also makers in Edinburgh were inmpoving the Uilleann pipes as well and the first stamped set of Scottish pipes are Union pipes by Robertson of Edinburgh in 1760. Also these pipes are in the piping centre and have regulators as well.

Yes, absolutely right. A fascinating period in the technology of the pipes.

I'm taking a bit of an interest in that period- just working on a union set based on an early (Kenna) design. Fascinating, and addictive!

Hi Richard - I just purchased a used 11 key set of your NSPipes. Can't wait to get going. These videos are very useful since I'm in the States.
