What a performance !
Possibly not for David Oistrakh, Shostalovich had composed this piece for Sayaka Shoji.

this bitch tore me a new asshole

@Violinfanatic I would think that you are "a fool" :D and not Shostakovich. Thank goodness for talented composers and also for talented interpreters.

@Violinfanatic Yes, the soloists interpretation is everything. The same piece can sound so different when played with different hands. And we who hear it argue over what is better, which really it's about each person's individual soul. Did the soloist say what I wanted to hear from this piece?

pq tal movimento é tão triste?

I've been a classical music fan for 25 years, but this has to rank as my favourite performance (on Youtube at least).
Perfection really.
And that's all in just 240p, imagine it in 360p ;-)

Very beautiful performance!

@C182Skylane Yes, the music is amazing. But remember, if it weren't for the musician's awesome ability and gift, the composer's music would never be heard in a way that it desveres to be heard. Sayaka played Shostakovich's creation in a way that we can understand why the composer himself was a genius. On the other hand, if I took out my violin and tried playing this same piece for you, you'd think Shostakovich was a fool. Thank goodness for talented violinists.
Tragically beautiful.

Well, she's certainly doing an awesome interpretation here. But - I don't know about you people, but at least for me the far more fascinating an really heart-crushing thing is the music itself that Shostakovich composed and that I so often must not hear because it's just too much for me.
