  • haha peasant combat. Peasant indeed, all just techniques 'borrowed' from Japanese Katana and Kama techniques.

  • @13expose13 Please, I would love to hear your explanation on how a 16th Century Augsburg civil servant managed to come across Okinawan kobudō techniques in Renaissance Germany, particularly since it was not taught publicly in Japan until the 18th century.

  • @Djemps Well there are many possibilities. Just because something is not taught publicly doesn't mean that it's not taught. Our friends from the east were travelling the world long before the 16th century mate. Are you saying that a civil servant in Germany invented these techniques in the 1500s? That deseves a 'please'. Samurai were using these techniques long before that. Maybe the best explaination is that two handed sword techniques are generally similar no matter where you go.

  • @13expose13 You are clearly interested in Martial Arts. I think you would be fascinated by the extensive Historical Martial Art history of Europe. There was unarmed combat, extensive weapons training, regional schools and styles, famous masters and secret techniques. The oldest surviving manual dates back to 1320, but clearly it existed long before that.

  • @13expose13 I agree that two handed weapon forms are bound to have similarities. But to suggest that some wandering Okinawan master trekked across Europe and revealed his secrets to a Western culture that was ignorant of Martial Arts techniques is a big stretch... I mean 'Ancient Aliens' conspiracy theory stretch...
