This is the 2nd to last episode in this jukebox journey of nostalgia and so I offer a bad poem to celebrate!

ENTITLED
i am baba o' riley
the street fighting man
runnin down a dream
as fast as i can

i'm a buffalo soldier
on a stairway to heaven
a voodoo child
in the magnificent seven

i'm on a highway to hell
where the steets have no name
i fell on black days but
the song remains the same

so god save the queen
and the sultans of swing
on a magic carpet ride
with the lizard king

i'm a wonderwall at garden grove
and i don't believe the hype
got a head like a hole
a white rabbit's soul
i'm the yellow submarine type

i'm ziggy stardust with a devil's haircut
i'm a bullet with butterfly wings
i heep on rockin in the free world
especially when smokey sings

a heartbreak beat
a destination unknown
hell, i'm mr. roboto
in the twilight zone

runnin with the devil
yet comfortably numb
everyday i write the book
because it's under my thumb

  • A couple of things to add:

    1) Chaka Khan was scheduled to do backing vocals on Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love"...she told the record company to "stuff it, I ain't doing back-up". Then, when it hit #1, she regretted not taking part. Winwood comes along, offers her back-up vocals for "Higher Love", and she jumps at it!!

    2) White Lion's biggest hit was "When The Children Cry", peaking at #3.

  • @Bigstud19 ineresting stuff right there about Chaka. I didn't know that. I heard it was her label. Either way: When the Children Cry may have gone the highest on the charts but that doesn't make it their biggest hit. That song is awful.

  • @funktuall I wouldn't say it was awful...it was definately a different sound than most of their other songs....but if you use that as criteria....you could say the same about "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" by Poison, or , dare I say it, "Only Women Bleed", "You And Me", or "I Never Cry" by Alice Cooper.

  • @Bigstud19 It wasn't just awful because it was a ballad, many power ballads were fun but his voice should just never sing like that. That is exactly why you never hear it anymore.

  • I never knew that was Chaka Khan toward the end of Higher Love... what a voice on her.

  • Peep the video, she's in it!

  • I have no idea what the point (if any) was, but I LOVED this video collage more than any I've ever heard on YT... w00t!

  • @funktuall Good point!!

  • 3) I was one of the people duped by the 45 version of "Here I Go Again". I ended up acquiring the LP just to get the more familiar version.

    4) Love the pic sleeve for "Mexican Radio"!!

    5) I agree with shawn0612... the 12" of "Dance Hall Days" is outstanding.

  • 9'55 - the original sample of eric prydz call on me!

  • I love Wang Chung's soundtrack To Live in and Die in L.A.

Kim Wilde started presenting gardening tv shows on the BBC a few years ago.

Higher Love is used perfectly in Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

  • hey funtual---do some more shit like this----this is really very good !! thanks man
