This is a timelapse recording I took from my balcony starting just before an approaching thunderstorm on the afternoon of May 15th, 2007. It's shot with a 7 megapixel digital still camera with one frame every 20 or 30 seconds. The night sky kept looking so cool that I decided to leave the camera running all night long. The original frames are all 3072x2304 pixels -- way higher than HD's 1920x1080 size. This yields a lot of versatility for panning and zooming around the image. The HD version is amazing. Enjoy!

@WhiteSugarFive Vancouver would be much better...I lived in Banff for 6 months..Its hard to come back to Toronto after that..

that was pretty cool video! How did you move the camera like that, pan around and zoom in and out while doing timelapse? Totally looks like a different planet. You should do one of these little slower with sunrise/sunset. You would capture some awesome colors.

@Smokie181 The whole video was shot with a high resolution still camera with a wide angle lens. Because the individual photos are much higher resolution than even 1080p footage, I was able to zoom in without losing detail. All panning and zooming was done during post production in Final Cut Pro.

Love this vid. Great quality. Very fitting background music. Is that Ryerson campus in the background?

Ryerson is a bit south of here (to the left of the camera). You might be able to see the edge of one of the buildings -- I'm not sure. Re the music: yeah, I was amazed at how well it works with what I shot. Synchronicity.
