Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, Ilan Pappe - Part1

This is a lecture held by the Palestinian-Canadian Student Society (PCSS) at the University of Calgary in Winter 2008. The guest is the well-known Professor Ilan Pappe.
Ilan Pappe, born in Haifa in 1954 is currently a Chair in the Department of History, the University of Exeter and a co-director of the Exeter Center for Ethno-Political Studies. He was the academic head and founder of the Institute for Peace studies in Givat Haviva Israel (1992-2000) and the Chair of the Emil Touma Institute for Palestinian Studies in Haifa (2000-2008).

Pappe is a both a professional historian and a human rights activist who believes that commitment and professionalism do not necessarily clash, but rather reinforce each other.

I honestly believe with every fiber in my being that when you educate one mind,you therefore educate an entire world.I thank the good god for scholars like Ilan Pappe,Noam Chomsky,Avi Shlaim,Norman Finkelstein and so many other jewish and non-jewish scholars who shed some bright light of true knowledge about the israeli-palestinian conflict. Palestine had its Arab Muslim majority, among them were Christian and Jewish minorities until Zionists started their ethnic cleansing crimes.

The criminal Zionists themselves admitted their ethnic cleansing crimes, but the new brainwashed and complicit Zionists think the term is "inappropriate", "misleading" and "deceptive"!

While I hold some respect for Pappe, The term "ethnic cleansing" is not only extreme and inappropriate, but also misleading, if not all out deceptive. I maintain, based upon Pappe's own explanation for using the term that it is grossly irresponsible, as it is used merely for shock value. Pappe uses the term in order to draw comparison to legitimate attempts at ethnic cleansing, but those situations (i.e. Ottoman genocide of Armenians) bare no comparison to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
