***See my State of the Edge (May 5, 2009) video for a review of this knife*** After Mike Lummio (the designer) responded to my review of the BCNW Bushcraft Knife in a message, I felt it was necessary to make a quick follow-up video. The sheath has two loops in addition to the belt loop. These make the sheath more versatile for carry, as they will accomodate lanyards, D-rings, or possibly carabiners. The knife can be carried horizontally as well as vertically, and on the body or on gear. This makes the sheath more attractive to me. Also, Mike made the point that a smooth handle is better for longer carving sessions. I agree, but I believe that textured handles can still be comfortable for extended use, and in a survival situation I believe a positive grip regardless of the the weather conditions is more important to safeguard against injury. Thanks again, Mike, for letting me review your knife!

  • I like your vids. But i was wondering if you could point me in the direction of some good quality bush knives( scandi ground) that are not super expencive and not plastic handled.

    I would really appreciate it.

  • @smknsmpt88 Not all of the Mora knives have plastic handles. Check out their offerings online. Otherwise, unfortunately none of the other major manufacturers have caught on to the trend yet. If you want a super high quality knife with the Scandi grind, you're probably going to have to look into a custom or semi-custom.

  • hey icechap its me again!!

great video -like the others you have !!

all your videos are exellent !!

where can i buy a woodlore knife and how much it costs !!

    best wishes from me

    good luck

  • If you're looking for a bushcraft knife in the same tradition as the Woodlore knife (used by Ray Mears), recommend looking at the Mora line. They're relatively inexpensive but very capable.

  • Hi, got the knife back. Thx. While the small loop on top of the belt loop is for a d-ring or neck lanyard, the loop on the side fits an army model firesteel (looks like you had a the smaller scout version there). Sorry if I wasn't clear in my message. Thanks for doing the review and good luck with your channel. ML

  • Thanks for being so understanding of my delay in getting it back to you. And thanks for clarifying that info in your comment!

    Be well.

  • Nice discussion. I could use this knife all day long! Thanks for sharing.

  • Great vid. I own that knife. I was told by Mike that the loop is for an Army Light my Fire firesteel. That is in my sheath and it fits perfectly. God bless. John

  • The bigger light my fire Army fire striker would probably a good fit for the loop on the side! Worth a thought!

  • the loop on the side is for a FIRESTEEL ... one of the proper length and diameter.

A peice of shock cord attached to the firesteel gets looped down over the end to retain it while stowed in the loop.

  • @smknsmpt88 look at bensbackwoodsdotcom they have enzo blanks and also different knife you make is reasonable prices

  • @icychap

try MARTTIINI its a finnish brand i discovered this brand when i moved to finland and their knives are top quality

  • the loop on the side is actually for a swedish firesteel. you have the scout model it's for the army model.

  • the loop on the side is actually for a swedish firesteel.

  • If you get a full size firesteel it'll probably fit just perfectly. Look for the army model rather than the scout model.

  • actually the side loop IS for bigger firesteel...they come in larger sizes
