The "dinos" are actually enemies called Koindozers, hence the level name. They are part of a race alligators or crocodiles called Kremlings ruled by King K. Rool (or Kaptain K. Rool/Baron K. Roolenstein/whatever he feels like calling himself) from the Donkey Kong Country series of games.
