Another interesting tidbit .... Bruce is Emily Robinson's brother-in-law .... for the record, I like his version better as well .... seems a bit commercialized and contrived coming from the "Chicks" .... Bruce is much more genuine!

for the record, the chicks wouldn't have ever had the privilege of recording such an awesome song if this wonderful and extremely talented singer/songwriter wouldn't have wrote it and allowed them the honor to deliver it to mainstream country radio and its listeners. I have to say this may not be Bruce's best performance of this song, but i've heard him sing it countless times and he can and HAS performed HIS SONG better than natalie maines. GOD BLESS TEXAS and THANK YOU LORD FOR TEXAS COUNTRY!!

The Dixie Chicks musical accompaniment is what drives through the emotion in this song. It's just not there in this video, although that might be partly due a poor live recording.

First of all i can't even believe the dixie chicks would redo this song after throwing off on the war. This is an amazing song & you've got to put yourself in the shoes of the people this song is about to really feel the pain ya know:)

However, I must say I prefer the Chicks' version. The emotion doesn't really come through on this one. I do give him credit for writing this, though..
