LE SIRENE DI SCANDICCI ( LO STUDIO )

Metaxytherium a Badia è solo l'ultima fase di un lavoro di squadra fra La Soprintendenza alle antichità della Toscana, il G.A.M.P.S. e le Università di Pisa e Bologna. Attualmente il giacimento dove sono stati recuperati gli scheletri non esiste più, ma ci restano alcuni reperti che consentiranno di apportare nuove e fondamentali conoscenze su queste creature che popolavano il Mediterraneo durante il Pliocene. Ancora una volta, grazie al costante lavoro sul campo, il gruppo di Scandicci ha saputo recuperare un patrimonio della nostra regione ed ha consentito alle Università di apprendere informazioni che, senza il contributo dei ricercatori scandiccesi, sarebbero andate perdute per sempre.
