This HF antenna is one i put together 2 years ago because i had a failing dipole antenna, i ended up building this antenna that worked very well for over a year and half, then i took her down and built the Aluminum dipole out of it.

  • I have a question. Is there any particular reason you choose to use bnc connectors over pl-259 on a lot of your projects? I like your videos. Keep making more.

  • Main reason at the time i built this antenna i had a ton of BNC connectors, i dont suggest them for outside tho, the rust pretty easy! I have been useing either Pl-259 or direct connections for the newest creations, check out the new and IMPROVED version of this antenna, it is newly uploaded and still in the process of modifications, seems to work well!

  • I discovered that by using cable TV coaxial cable, mainly RG11, it can be buried since the cable companies use it for street to house runs. Then using moisture treated RG6 for shorter connections. Home Depot sells the connectors and crimper tool. Using 75 ohm cable makes no difference at all and performs just as well on VHF/UHF bands.

  • OK send me a link to see the new vertical:) Jimmy, ARRL TS, WX9DX :)

  • Now all you need are some stainless screws and some " NO OX compound" to put on all the connections!!! Also this is very simular to the HYgain vertical but home made... I am happy to see people still building things!!! Also by sending voltage up the coax you could click relays out there to change the taps for you:) **Thanks Great video!!! **Just needs some small clean up on the rusty parts:) LOL

  • I dig those home brew rigs, way kewl!
