And this is a cathechesis talk if I'm correct, which is intended to have some explanation since the cardinal does not know how much his audience knows. Dolan is a good speaker, I've had lunch with him, and I'm sure the rest of the speech might help you out some.
Sigh. When I saw the title I had hoped that a high ranking Catholic clergyman could put forth an intelligent argument for why faith was a good thing. But alas, the archbishop spends a third of the video explaining what empiricism is without ever presenting an argument against it, a third grossly mischaracterizing a Marx quote (that Hitchens has clarified several times), and the final third simply asserting that faith is logical without even attempting to give a reason. I want my 5 minutes back.
