Live video captured from the Olympic Challenger ROV #2 at 4:45AM CDT on 5 September 2010. The pesky methane hydrate crystals which are not leaking out from the sea floor according to BP seem to be making it hard for them to see what's going on during "Tooling Recovery."

I apologize for the poor quality of these videos, but it is not my fault -- the Oceaneering Millenium ROVs that BP is using transmit 1080p high-definition video to their motherships via fiberoptic cable. This quality is what we are allowed to see. Why do you think they are degrading the video streams made available to the public to such a drastic extent?

  • Reevaluating this clip, suddenly realize that also our own collective ignorance has made us become our ultimate demise. Yet our ignorance is forgivable: how cud we everhave known these crooks operating on this level of dillettanterie. How cud we have put ourselves at this stake! A few big crooks caused this by sheer negligence, non-maintenance of both equipment and their own soul. So sinful is their ignorance the provenance of these monstrosities. This surely cannot be forgiven that easily.

  • JMac, nice vid! However, one establishment of some boring monotonous overvieuw of the arsenal of scrap junk beepee equipment.

Unimaginable how these oilcrooks are freely allowed by the government to obscurely operate with. Socalled 'state of the art' equipment? Rather more of a risky dabbling with safety. Maintenance-free equipment ? Here's complete absence of any maintenance! Of course we'll a loop of rope will get stuck and the silly robot arm and its useless movements trying to mend this.

  • Methane hydrate interfering with beepee equipment. Hasn't this become the standard norm of deep sea oil drilling, beepee style. Of course every single day the same establishment remains: another equipment failure. Noticeable is the poor state of the materials dubbed: 'equipment'. Right out of the sardine can factory! Beepee saving on costs once again while the whole world watches ungraceful demise into total horror. Hard to imagine, this kinda of cheap mentality: to prefer costs above safety.
