Blind Spot Information System is designed to see things you might not as its radar sensors can identify vehicles hidden from view in your blind spot. Then it alerts you by illuminating an orange light in your door mirror. See how this system is designed to improve the safety of overtaking manoeuvres.

  • @urbex2007 Well if we take your view then you can apply the same idea to seatbelts, airbags etc. If everyone drives correctly then you don't need them. But the reality is that you can't rely on other drives, people do make mistakes and a simple lapse in judgement is all it takes.

This isn't for laziness it's to promote safety and help avoid accidents. Something you should welcome as if people have less accidents insurance premiums don't need to keep rising.

  • @guitarmafia20 And Mercedes just copied the assembly line? Volvo came up with the cross body seat belt. Car companies trade ideas all the time. Ford and Toyota are sharing hybrid technology. Wish smart phones worked out like that than what's going on now in the patent wars.

  • @urbex2007 ... the reason it's called a 'blindspot' is because it is the area that can't be seen in the rear view mirrors. If you ever passed your license properly you'd know that before changing lanes you have to turn around and check that area. So no, you can't see your *blindspot* with just a simple adjustment.

  • This is not required IF you adjust your car mirrors CORRECTLY. I can't think why Ford would fit it, unless they sell to stupid drivers. Adjust the side mirrors to show the next lane and NOT the side of the car. Plenty of videos here show you what to do. You will find that once a car can't be seen from the rear view mirror, it will appear in the side mirror. I would say 80% of drivers don't know how to adjust their mirrors correctly, a simple adjustment would save a lot of accidents. Ford=Lazy...

  • Mercedes-Benz made Blind Spot Assist , not volvo or ford they just copyed it

  • that technology will kill you one day

  • @TheHornyHomunculus No it wasn't. You were clearly wrong in that argument. Now go suck a rock and teach your car how to parallel park...

  • WTF would i only look in one mirror when putting directionals i look at the rear and the one on the middle before putting directions to either side, thats just an useless thing they put, i could had saved money in that car and put something better ti improve it even more, taking it to the next level.

  • True. "Stolen" was a bad word to use. All the Ford fanboys seem to think this is new tech and it isn't. That was my point.

  • @TheHornyHomunculus Well, Volvo is owned by Ford.
