I was actually kind of surprised that they were only $1500. I saw a guy a while back that built one of these himself, and posted everything he used, and the total for that was also $1500. I figure they could get the parts a little cheaper if they buy in bulk, but they still can't be making a ton of money on these, which means they get my respect for not charging over twice what it costs to build, like Segway does.

Im sorry but I could have looked more graceful on my STANDARD unicycle, this just defeats the purpose of the unicycle...

isnt a self balancing unicycle kind of defeting the fact that a ulicycle is a skill of balance on the riders sake not the tech?
You know what would be even cooler than trying to make even more Americans fat, lazy dorks? Adding all the other things I hate to it:
- A REALLY loud horn
- Golf
- Frisbee
Here goes...Fat lazy asshole air horn disc golf! Yesss.
Make sure it's urban so I cannot escape it. And use up some really nice park space or, better yet, some existing bike trails! Oh man, I am really onto something.
Can't wait!!!

How well does it work on rough surfaces?

It works great anywhere you would ride a conventional unicycle. I ride mine on sidewalks, bike lanes and grass if I'm careful.
