This was my first visit to the "Mach Loop" Whilst on holiday in north Wales in 2009. It was awesome, I was very lucky, on my first day there were over 30 passes, and on my second day loads of Typhoons and a F15 with afterburner. The photographers up there were a very friendly bunch, and I would like to thank all of them, for the tips and advice they gave me about the Mach Loop. Cad West was definatly my favorite site on the loop.

  • I enjoyed this thanks

Shame we will not see any more Harriers thanks to the blinkered government

  • @mondeo2500 It sure is a shame, because Harriers were always the lowest flying through that valley.

  • is that U.S aircraft?

  • @aiviationboy Yes the Eagles are from a base in the UK called Lakenheath, aviation fans in the UK are very happy to have the USAF in England.

  • Why is it call the "Mach Loop" when their not doing any Mach numbers

  • @martkt10 It gets the name from a nearby village called Machylleth.

  • As exhilerating as it may be, if you were the enemy it would be the worse to see and hear.

  • @Voodoomancer Mines bigger.

  • @13lackLight Training at low level, apparently! =) If you're asking how fast they are going, I'd guess between 300-500kts, maybe? Depending on the plane. Obviously not the C-130!

  • Funny, it may just seem that way because they are so small, but I'd almost swear that those Hawks are going faster through there than the big boys are! Must be fun to fly a plane like that, even more fun than flying something big like a F-15 or Tornado. And I'd never realized what a distinctive sound the Typhoon makes...reminds me a little of a J79 howling when it's approaching.

  • These Hawk guys are crazy... that's why there are the best !

  • @Wonkabar007 Interesting. I'd have thought it'd be the jaguars.

  • 3:06 to 3:13 is the best, fantastic :-)

  • what are they doing anyway?

  • 1:28 that is the biggest lens I have ever seen being used.
