You oughta roll this into the middle - it's really the last two minutes you want to hear of this Stravinsky Masterpiece which he wrote around 1910ish. He took a break from it to pen "The Rite of Spring" in collaboration w/ choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky which was the most rejected, unappreciated thing to ever hit a stage and, naturally, went on to be the yardstick by which brilliance is measured. But anyway, the last two minutes of this thing is perfect and I grew up listening to it. More on Stravinsky at www.fatovamingus.blogspot.com

  • This is from Europe Concert 2005 in Budapest (Hungarian State Opera)

  • You will also notice that the conductor of this clip is Sir Simon Rattle who is the musical director and conductor of the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra

  • I have seen the Rock Music Group YES on seven different occasions and this is what they used as their entrance to the stage music. "The Rite Of Spring" debacle happened in 1910 and riots in Paris was all due to the nature of the music when the audience heard it and became so out of control that even the police were helpless. The Firebird Suite was premiered in the year 1913.

  • No recording of firebird is better than this one.

  • The whole suite is just so REALLY OUT THERE, scarry, so damn abstract, oh Jees.

  • and skip the horn solo?! Are you nuts?! This is by far, the best piece of music ever composed.

  • @shadeofbleu Hahaha I totally did not catch that when I posted this!

  • @Zenobius1 haha rattled, nice pun
