A drive-thru of the downtown area in January of 1987 during a rare 6 to 8 inch snow. The video starts out at Hickory Grove, then shows inbound Independence. It shows LaPointe Chevrolet when it was uptown, along with Belk and construction of the new First Union (Wachovia headquarters) and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg government center. At the 7:55 mark is a mid-80's Charlotte-Meckenburg police car.

  • Were you driving with one hand and operating the camera with the other? That's the only way I can think of you getting this view from the driver's seat. And what kind of camera did you use that the image is so clear? It doesn't seem that grainy at all like a camcorder would.

  • @RGAF1987 This was a Canon VM-E1 which you can google to see it! These rested on your shoulder and used compact 8mm videotapes, a breakthrough in camcorders for the time!

  • back when Kroger was popular in Charlotte! I just heard a Kroger ad. It still thrives in Atlanta!

  • I miss Kroger..they were bought out by Bi-Lo in the Carolinas.

  • That Kroger ad is at the 6:04 mark..
