International Society of Bassists Convention, YOUNG BASSIST PROGRAM, June 13, 2009. INDIANAPOLIS YOUNG BASSISTS ENSEMBLE, Director: ROBERT GOODLETT, Performers:(from Right to Left) Daniel Perry, Zac Camhi, Scott Wente, Julia Milrod, Samuel Winternheimer, Stephen Haan, Nate Olson. Unfotunately due to time constraints the ISB Young Bassist Director John Kennedy imposed a cut in the music, so the version performed was abridged.

  • Hi guys, may I ask you something? Inspired by all the great music arranged/written for DBass I'd like to compose for DB solo or ensemble but I am having trouble with notation. I know that it sounds one octave lower than notated but you what is the highest note on double bass? How do I know which kind of stringing the bass need and how it has to be tuned, When playing flageolett, how do you notate this? In sibelius 6 I can't find the right symbols for sure..^^ But it sounds just too awesome

    Lieber Andreas,

Ich glaube dass Du in Deutschland oder Oesterreich wonnst? Ebenso, Ich kann deine Fragen antworten.

I can send you some details regarding flagolett (we call them "harmonics" but the highest note on the fingerboard is usually C 2 octaves above the middle C (but transposed one octave lower)

  • This is a cool arrangement. The fact that is transposed down a half step is actually enough to change the color of it completely! Sounds wonderful!

  • Uhm.

Really not in tune. But I do understand that the fact that tones Are so distant One another makes very difficult to stay in tune... But... You know... People expect that

  • Uhm, That was interesting...I think. I have to get used to the buzzing sound, the ridiculous slides and the oscillatingly obsolete intonation, but I'm getting there.

  • being a bassist myself, i know how tough it can be being in tune with 6 other musicians.... u guys did a great job!!!!!! i like the tone of the top guy......

  • awsome piece do you know where i could get the partiture for this one ty

  • five stars.cheers.
