All bird dog owners should know how to release their dog from a conibear trap. Scott Linden, host of Wingshooting USA television series, recorded this instructional video at the 2011 Pheasant Fest.

  • We've got to know how to release the trap with a live, kicking, biting dog in it in time to save the dog's life.

We've got to know that it's not always possible to save the dog's life--even when the dog is released from the trap immediatey--after the trap has damaged its throat and spine.

Good safety tip, WidgeonSlayer, but what sizes are less deadly for what kind of dogs, and what sizes are easier for what kinds of people to release?

  • Good video and information. I dont use the bigger coni's on land specifically because of the risk of pets getting into them.
