Hildegard of Bingen and the Living Light is a lively portrayal of the 12th century German Abbess Hildegard of Bingen. In this one-woman play, Linn Maxwell combines her spirituality and her life-long commitment to music and drama to portray this amazing woman. Linn performs seven songs composed by Hildegard, accompanying herself on two psalteries, organistrum, Anglo-Saxon and Medieval harps. See http://www.altoproductions.org for more info.
I grealy venerate Blessed Hildegard, but why does this woman seem to treat her religous life with such comic distain? The bit of Jutta's mortification is not part of the Benedictine rule, indeed that sort of thing is specifically FORBIDDEN in the Rule of Benedict...that is why Hildegard was scandalized by it..
Instead of simply reading Hildegards words and putting them into a 'mondern' sense, how about reading the same books Hildegard herself read, like the Rule and then see what she was about.
