In this basic video I take a look at how much power the HP Proilant MicroServer consumes during standby and also during a boot process.

  • Which version? N40L? Also how many hdd's? Need this for the results to be usable :)

  • Thanks for this.

  • thanks for the video. i just built an i7 960 tower for a home lab and esxi 4.0. on idle, my power consumption is around 163W. it's a little high for what i'll be doing and what i'll need so this is a great solution if i get it down to half (around 80W) with 4 HDDs.

those asking about the esxi compatibility, you can go to his site and read the post. the nic works out of the box but i didn't see him mention about the RAID.

    thanks again for sharing

  • How many and what type of disks were in the machine?

  • What version of esx-i ? 4.0 or 4.1 U1?

The embedded ethernet and sata controller is recognized by esxi or you just boot from a usb stick?

  • Thanks for the video. Am I guessing correctly that you ran these test with the original configuration the original harddrive installed?

  • Is that with the memory and harddrive that is delivered with or has more been added ?
