The SEA-ME-WE4 cable repair caused some downtime to many cable systems across Africa, the Middle-East and Asia. Due to this and the queries by our social media followers, this brief video shows how an undersea cable is repaired.

@700gsteak oh ok. Red Coloured Cable section shown in the video is like couple of 100 meters. Pick and connect one end. Perform continuity checks. then move to second end for connecting. Sort of like a jumper connection

how is ther enough cable to pull it up to the surface? Do you leave loops every x metres?

looks like they have to repair the underwater lines after the japan earthquake
