Santa Fe in Tennessee (Nashville and Eastern RR)

In March, 2008, my then-girlfriend (now my wife) treated me to an excursion train-ride on the Tennessee Central Railway. On the way back into Nashville, we were filming from the train and we were treated to a surprise: ex-ATSF diesels with the Santa Fe paint still on them!

(Ignore the wild guesses in the background as to the make and model of the locomotives...)

I just got back Saturday for the tcrm and I got the pleasure of seeing the Nashville eastern just bought 3 or 4 bnsf dash9s!!! They look great and are still in bnsf colors. Not sure if they will repain them or not. Can't wait to see them on the road though

@Tennesseecentral6902 they ARE NOT DASH9s !!! they are EX SANTA FE B40-8ws in the 500 number series . they are shorter then dash9s and have 4 axels. gawd,

I got to see 2 of the bnsf engins in Monterey yesterday and saw then loading sand this morning. They are still bnsf colors and I'm glad. They are huge compaired to what usually run up here. But I can understand why they use them on the mtn. It's a 2.5-3.3% grade up to monterey and they need all the power they can get.
