Faster than Legolas!
A historical technique much faster than the known.

The Danish archers Lars Andersen has rediscovered. an old and very fast way to shoot bows.

To compare speed
I have added 4 other good fast archers together !
to show the time it takes to shoot 10 arrows.

It is completely unscientific and not objectively
The 4 other archers can probably shoot faster than these video.

1: Lajos Kassai famous and fabulous Hungarian.
Fastest horseback shooting in the world !
He was the one who first inspired me to fast shooting.
Shoot and teach the horses and archery system
he has developed.
A system based on pre angerede arrows.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yorHs...

2: Iza Privezenceva tough Russian girl.
Fastest quiver shooting in the world!
She shoots a new and very interesting inverse system developed by Seregedel.
http://www.youtube.com/user/Seregedel...

3: DasDaan Dutch archer
He shoots a ""classic"" quiver system
http://www.youtube.com/user/DasDaan

4: Bo " CombatArchery" cole American archer.
Shoot and teach the system he has developed
A fairly simple straightforward system, without the
use of pre angerede arrows.
The best start system for people who want to shooting fast

Shooting on the chain mail:
It is with the video because it shows how much energy "low pressure" modern carbon fiber bows actually provides.
Ring armor is good quality riveted and with rings on the 7mm

I had first agreed with a blacksmith that he should make special arrows chain mail tips, but made first a test with normal arrows, and quite surprisingly smashed all the ordinary arrows straight through the ring armor.
it surprised me a lot because I had thought that I had to use one of my heavier bows.

It should be remembered that if you look at past archers: the 60,000 year and throughout the world. so most archers never shot at enemies with iron armor.

Today we often have an incorrect idea that war archery is always against enemies in iron armor.

In 60,000 years, man has shot with bow,
Today we know very little about the past archery.
so much is lost.
There are no truths, or proper ways to shoot with bow,
I have rediscovered something about archery, but there is still so much to rediscover.

Sincerely,
Lars Andersen

You're comparing the use of large groups in open-field battles to two guys within 30yards of each other. Your argument sounds like this: snap-shooting with a sub-machine gun is retarded because most battles in history were won with precision shots from battle rifles.

Each of them has a place, and it would be an elitist mistake to forgo learning any and every technique solely based on its unconventionality and lack of history.

After all, would you rather fire ten times at short range and miss the opponent or bounce off his armor, or is it preferable to have three shots at very long range with greater accuracy and a kill-shot each and every time it hits?

Obvious choice is obvious, which is why this is purely for show and is a "lost art". Have him shoot leather armor at minimum 75 yards like this and I'll be impressed.

Remember Agincourt? The British won almost purely because of greater archery RANGE (max 400yrds).

The shorter the bow, the shorter the draw length, the greater the draw weight has to be to compensate. So if anything, a short bow would need to be even harder to draw if it were to be useful in battle. Equally important is that the shorter the bow, the more acute the angle at draw, which reduces accuracy and is less forgiving.

Point was simple, if it didn't have the range or punching power for the armor and opponents it would meet it battle, it was obsolete.

I don't really get your point here, you are right that this wont work with a longbow but its not supposed to. This is for a "Short-bow" it wont be completely accurate at long range but it was, and still is the best technique for shooting fast and accurate at close range. There is a reason why short bow's were far more used in war then a long bow. So again i don't get the nonsense here, also a bow that had 250 pounds of torque was very rare in open battles.

Indeed your right but the recurve bow, in general, stores more energy and delivers more energy thus generating more power and speed on the arrow than a normal straight bow - thats just how they work, its science.

He probably is using a weakish bow yes, but the beauty of a recurve, even a heavier bow, is that you don't need to draw right back to release a shot that has equivalent power as a normal straight bow that would need to be drawn back fully.

A recurve bow is as strong or weak as you make it. Remember, a bow is essentially just a spring that stores energy. You can have a really weak spring that is easy and fast to draw, or you can have a really heavy spring that is more lethal with greater range.

He's probably using a weak 30# bow here, and guess what, virtually ANY arrow will go through chainmail which every archer knows. It may not penetrate a thick cotton gambeson at any respectable range, yet alone plate armor.

Weak bows? Recurve bows are no where near weak. You say this guy would get over run yet he is using techniques from cultures that used archery like this, so it obviously worked.

Cliffs Notes: This "mysterious technique" isn't used because its only functional on very weak bows that don't have the range or penetrating power to be combat effective and isn't particularly accurate to boot.

The English longbow for example was so feared because it could penetrate plate armor in a direct shot with a volley as far out as 200-250 yards. This guy is within sword range and would be overrun by cavalry or dismounted infantry with shields.

And when the bow was replaced by the crossbow, the draw strengths were so high that you couldn't even engage it using a hook, both feet, and your entire back strength.

They had to develop geared ratcheting systems to draw the bows.

Why? Because how much ENERGY is in the projective is dependent on how much you put in to it. That energy determines if it can penetrate leather and steel plate armor and what lethal range it has.
