I'm thinking she means that maybe Deb feels it on a subconscious level, but is fully blocking it as news like that would totally destroy her... Especially after everything the writers have already put her through!!
Deb actually is a good cop.. she is always on Dexter's trail w/o realizing it and he is always throwing her off it.
I think when the series ends, it will have to do with her discovering the truth about her brother. Poor Deb!

I love Jennifer Carpenter but I have to dissagree with her answer just because from watching Deb I believe if she found out I think she'd be mortified. She would be so heartbroken and pissed.

Most interesting part of the interview here, for both Deb's character and Rita's. what is it that you don't put a loaded rifle on stage unless someone plans to use it in the next act. There's more than one Chekov's gun on stage.
