@albanian098 The X in mathematics is an unknown variable. Malcolm believed he couldn't call himself a free black man if he carried around the last name given to his people by the slave master. X was a temporary name while he was studying Islam, as a student. Malcolm X also didn't hate white people. He didn't want to kill them. He just didn't believe in integration. He believed the black community would succeed more if they stuck together, lifting themselves up.
