From watching the moves that you're using, you clearly have no idea how swords work. Are you using old Errol Flynn movies as your primary source material? The phrase "sword expert" makes my skin crawl. An olympic fencer is the closest thing we have to a modern-day sword expert -- you guys are wannabes. Sure, anything can happen in a mass combat, but try pommeling a decent fencer (or even a bad fencer) in the sort of one-on-one combat you're trying to "simulate" and see what happens.

I'm just the guy who made the videos, and no sword expert at all, but I did watch some Olympic fencing this year and if you are purporting that a contest where tapping the upper arm of your opponent with a feather-light sideways tap is going to provide more historically accurate mortal combat data than people who fight with a4th century longswords and armor all day long then....

Geek is a person with an eccentric devotion to a particular interest.

A geek can be interested in anything.

For this guy, he is a sword geek or a book geek.

For me, I'd be an anime geek.

So you can't say he's not a geek.

    Good day to you sir.

hmz, this project kind of reminds me of the game Determinance.

It would be awesome if that "Clang" sword controller would work with a game like that.

:/ with the mouse it`s just not all that awesome.

I doubt this guy is really a geek I bet he thinks he is a geek only because he likes sword (and who doesn't by the way)

If they made a prop controller for fighting, they should add in a slot to add weight, depending what kind of weapon it is

Sorry to burst your bubble, but as foil and saber fencer myself, I can promise you that fencing is not an accurate depiction of sword-fighting. It's pretty similar to duels, but it's a lot more restrictive and it doesn't flow at all.

I am not sure that one needs to have actually killed a human to be regarded as a sword expert. But that's just me. Also, I am a pizza expert and I have slaughtered hundreds of pizzas. Somebody hire me to consult on a realistic pizza game.

No, they should find someone who makes fake guns who calls himself a "gun expert." Do you think they're going to get real sword fighters? Have you seen too many movies with time travel? Where do you get a real sword fighter other than three hundred years ago? What makes you think their "sword experts" know anything at all? The weapons they have made and the fighters they have trained have succeeded in exactly the same number of real life-and-death sword fights as you and me: Zero.

have to disagree on that, i used to fence myself, and it doesn't really have a lot to do with realistic fighting. an example: when fighting with an epée, it doesn't matter where you hit your enemy. stabbing his head is just as good as stabbing his left arm.

when fighting with a foil, only hits to the torso count, stabbing someone's head wouldn't earn you any points! plus, if you fight with a foil you only get a point if your attack had priority, so you can stab someone and get no point for it.
