Ani wrote it about watching her parents fight as a child, and how now that she is an adult, she "gets it" and is no longer angry. But the song has so many other applications... When I shout this song out to someone in particular (which I have never done until RIGHT now)--its because I love Ani, and love the song, and find it inspirational. Like any good poet, Ani would say to make her song yours. Open and allow the lyrics to apply to friendships, or old relationships. Or current ones.
