I heard this woman many times on TV years ago, but I never liked her. Then a few weeks ago I watched her in concert. She now ranks for me 2nd only to Fairuz. The concert was amazing- her voice, the music, and words to the songs. And this one has just blown me away. Being raised in Australia, we don't learn formal Arabic- and it was only when I read this translated version that I can now appreciate this song. I have listened to it on my car Cd player over 300 times, and I cannot get enough!!!!

Beautiful song. Yes CARMENSITO is right. In arabic YUSMI3UNI means 'he tells me' , and not he listens to me. There is a big difference between the two. If YASMA3UNI then it is appropriate to translate 'he listens to me'. The song says that' he tells her words that are not like simple words' while he dances with her.

o im sorry, any ways, i hope you trust me :D cause i think the song becomes even more beautiful when it begins with Yusmi3uni (he tells me), and if you dont really trust me? Just ask some one who is supposed to be a teacher in arabic or something.
man it means he talks to me believe me, thats Fusha arabic, you do not say Yusami3uni in Fusha, he listens to me would be Yasma3uni.

Im siorry to tell you that you translation is not accurate, the start of the song is not 'he listens to me' it is 'He tells me or talks to me'

"yusmi3ouni" means he listens to me
if he was talking to her and making her listen to him she would have said "yusami3ouni"
why did you think it was "he tells me or talks to me" that is something completely different

actually, carmensito is right. "yusmi3ouni" means the same thing as "yousammi3ouni" - he MAKES ME HEAR.
what you are confusing it with is "yAsma3uni", which means he listens to me.
just think of it in context. your translation makes no sense. the correct translation is: "he makes me hear as he makes me dance, words that are unlike (any other) words"
