Words, music and images by Tyneside musician W.T. Duggan.
A song for (and about) my mother and her life. Mary Duggan gave birth to three sets of twins in the early 60s and started her working life in the Co-op laundry. That's her marked with an X in the black and white photo (I think she was about 17 years old). She had a tough old life. Always a rebel and union campaigner for women's rights and equal pay. I got to know her better in later life and she bought me a mandolin for my 17th birthday. Her favourite musicians were ZZ Top and Paul Simon. Says it all really.
