@peterpulpitpounder Just put bone pins in it.That will bring out your mids and highs. I did tell you. To get the Hd-28

You're supposed to tell me the HD28 can't be beat! I'm actually now the "official" owner of a new HD28. Bought it from Guitar Center 2 months back, it being the Xmas season I had it for 60 days. As I mentioned, I wasn't sure it was articulate/bright enough for me, so I was contemplating the D28. In any case, it's mine now, so I'm gonna have to make it my own. I may in the future switch it out for something else. Thanks!

@peterpulpitpounder With factory saddle and pins. it sounded great. Still sounded as good as a HD-28, if not better. I upgraded saddle to bone and push pins, strap pin,and end button to bone. Now it crushes a HD-28. It will hold its own to a Clarence White D-28 LSH,and a HD28V LSH Martin doesn't make a HD-28V LSH anymore. HD-16R LSH list around 2699. Sells for 1999.95.

@peterpulpitpounder HD all the way, for deeper bass and clearer mids and highs. With more sustain and vol. Now the Clarence White D-28 is better then the HD-28. The Clarence White D-28 has Prewar scalloped bracing.,if this is to much money for you. Check out the Martin HD-16R LSH it has Hybrid Scalloped bracing. Has a mod. low profile neck 1/34 nut. This is a great sounding guitar from, with deep bass, super clear mids and highs. Very fast action.

Martin D-28 Marquis a great guitar one of my favorites. Imagine is it had a LSH it would be the best Martin.

Thanks for the input. I've got the HD28 now, but to me I'm wondering if it lacks the articulation I want, which the standard D28 seems to have. The HD28 has such a long decay to it, not sure I'm gonna like long term.

lol i really want tabs for what he started playing at 1:47!
Really nice playing. Do you prefer the D28 over the HD28? Just curious. The D28 seems more focused to me, although not as warm.

@peterpulpitpounder If you have the means, the HD 28 does have a little fuller sound, and has a little more eye candy. The D28 is the meat and potatoes workhorse acoustic. They both are legendary and you can't go wrong either way.

How would you compare this to an HD-28? I play fingerstyle and like a raw woody growl with a light touch. I camt play one of these what would you say?

@clueworm82 The HD28 sounds fuller and louder because it has the scalloped X bracing.
