Sorry, I know you posted this a while age, but thought I'd respond anyway. It is larger and the edges are more rounded, but part of it's difference in appearance is due to growth. The 09 has higher ground clearance, better approach and departure angles, a lot more 2nd row leg room, and greater cubic feet in the cargo area. I test drove one a while back and it's a very solid and deceptively roomy small suv. It's easily best in it's class (at least in the US).

The 09 is slower heavier and has low hanging rear A arms.

Tyre pressure and driver ability make more difference IMHO.

@Robotasaurus higher ground clearance in a 09 forester? i dont see that much of a difference...

I found the new one too cumbersome, too big, too heavy. I like our 04 X much better. It had plenty of room already. The gas mileage, I hear it is not as good on the later generation. Hands down.. the prior models are my 1st choice. We will keep ours until the wheels fall off, we have no need to own a car, or it is damaged beyond reasonable repair.

@iPhoneSasuke А там такое-же турбо,что у нового не турбо,170 против 172,если старый 2.0 турбо,а новый 2.5 атмосферник.
