Two Fox CT journalists were assaulted by the husband of a woman who was at Superior Court on charges that she received stolen beer from Hartford Distributors shooter Omar Thornton, police said.

Reporter George Colli and photographer Alan Chaniewski were hit with wasp and hornet spray about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. Chaniewski was sprayed in the face, then rushed across the road to an Enfield firehouse for first aid. Colli was sprayed in the head and on his clothing.

The husband, Sean P. Quail, was charged with three counts each of reckless endangerment and third-degree assault, as well as carrying a dangerous instrument and breach of peace, in Tuesday's incident.

Quail, 33, of 13 Burnham St., Enfield, and his wife, Christy A. Quail, also 33, of the same address, were leaving the courthouse at the time.

Christy Quail had been scheduled to appear in court Tuesday on a sixth-degree larceny charge in the alleged beer theft, but her case was continued before she appeared.

Christy Quail was charged Aug. 6 after she was captured on video surveillance getting beer from Thornton in East Windsor, police said. She was recorded by a private investigator who was hired by Hartford Distributors to follow Thornton after he was suspected of stealing from the company.

Thornton shot eight coworkers to death before turning the gun on himself at Hartford Distributors on Aug. 3 after he was confronted with video of him stealing.

Sean Quail had been arrested Monday and charged with three counts of sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny in connection with the Thornton investigation, police said.

After the journalists were sprayed Tuesday, the truck in which the Quails left court sped away but was stopped a short time later by Enfield police.

Sean Quail was taken into custody in connection with the alleged assault. Police said he was in police with bail set at $25,000.

"It came out of nowhere," Colli said. "We were just taking pictures of them getting into the car. He grabbed something ... and immediately started spraying."

Sean Quail has been arrested Monday on a warrant issued by Superior Court in Enfield. He was released after posting $1,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 31.

That investigation is ongoing, police said. They do not know if more arrests are forthcoming.

Christy A. Quail did not appear before a judge Tuesday morning. She received an "administrative continuance" to Sept. 13 before court opened. An official with the state's attorney's office would not discuss the reason for the continuance.

  • He could still breath and talk, so I'm guessing it doesn't really decapacitate as well as pepper sprays?

  • @PostToastie, i guess you don't, but who cares, reporters are notorious for being dicks, so he probably had it coming in one way or another.

  • @iliteritmonkey But how do you know for sure??

  • @PostToastie, if you would listen, it was some lady ASSUMING it was windshield fluid, then another guy says its insecticide, and she says "oh, it is".

0:27 is when she says windshield fluid, and she is corrected at 0:29.

i repeat myself and say again, if you had payed a little more attention, you would have not made yet another mistake and made yourself look like an even bigger fool.

    apology accepted.

  • @iliteritmonkey If you would have listened during thew video, you would have heard him saying that it was windshield wiper fluid, I'm not going to find the esact moment for you, so you may have to figure out how to n=make it work all by yourself, duh?

  • @PostToastie, you claimed that it was winshield wiper fluid he was using, though clearly the can is marked with common colors used on insecticide sprays, the description also states that it was a type of wasp spray. Im sure if you had gathered a little more information about the video or had payed a little more attention, you would have not made that mistake and thus make yourself look like a fool.

  • @iliteritmonkey why is that?

  • @PostToastie apparently you either don't know what a description is or have trouble seeing clearly. I recommend seeing an optometrist or educating yourself more.

  • OH NO ! ! ! It's WINSHIELD WIPER FLUID, it might kill me, Please mister fireman, hose me down, that guy tried to kill me ! ! ! . lol @ fuckin' pussy cameraman

  • Stupid bitches with their fake news channels anyway. Why don't they report on real news, duh?
