Relatives of Air France Crash Victims Want to Know More

Some 40 relatives of the passengers of the Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic are gathered at a hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The family members want Brazilian and Air France authorities to allow a group of relatives to go to the city of Recife, where the passengers' remains are set to arrive. Mariana Paes, a friend of passenger Adriana Henriques says the relatives want to follow the rescue closely. [Mariana Paes, Friend of Crash Victim]: "People are walking inside (the hotel) and exchanging contact numbers with each other. They want to be able, in the future and if necessary, to file a lawsuit or discuss what needs to be done. People (families) want to go to the (rescue) area." Marten Van Sluijs, whose sister was on the Air France flight, says the relatives have chosen the representatives of a families' commission. [Marten Van Sluijs, Brother of Crash Victim]: "We have come up with a list of names of the people who will lead the (families commission) who are to pass on the demands from all the relatives of the victims of this sad event." Some relatives still pray for a miracle, but most have given up hope after experts said that all passengers most certainly died on the flight. Twenty-seven-year-old Henriques was travelling to Europe for the first time to visit some relatives in Paris. His father hopes some survivors may be found. [Nelson Marinho, Father of Crash Victim]: "We're hoping they will find someone alive. As the minister said, there could be someone (survivor). A miracle could happen." Search teams have spotted four more clusters of debris in the middle of the Atlantic. A dozen objects were found about 90 kilometers south of the first wreckage discovered on Tuesday. Brazil has sent four navy ships and a tanker with divers on hand to salvage the pieces. Aviation experts say the large distance between the wreckage zones might be an indication that the plane broke up in the sky well before it hit the water.
